Almost 50 years of Fluke and The YMCA of Snohomish County

For over 125 years, the YMCA of Snohomish County has focused on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across communities. The Y is a place to play, learn, to be healthy, and to give back.

The YMCA of Snohomish County commits to programs that centers around three causes, all of which are needed to support and strengthen the foundation of community:

1. Youth development
2. Healthy living
3. Social responsibility

The Y has something for everyone: swimming lessons for kids and parents to reduce the drownings in the area, youth sports programs, summer camps, early childhood education, school-aged child care, and more. In addition, The Y is the largest child care provider in Snohomish County.

Everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender identity, race, or income has the opportunity to reach their full potential at the YMCA. As a charitable organization, the Y does not turn anyone away due to inability to pay. In 2021, 7,000 households benefited from reduced cost Y membership fees thanks to the Annual Campaign supporting the Access for All program.

The Fluke Corporation, a Fortive company, and the YMCA of Snohomish County have been in close ties for more than four decades now. Monti Ackerman, past Fluke CFO and now Fortive Group CFO is a Trustee board member at the Y of Snohomish County. He shared with us how Fluke has been a key contributor to its success in building stronger communities in the County.

“We have seen the positive impact the programs of the Y have on our communities. The benefits and opportunities these programs provide through the spectrum of childhood to seniors is impressive. Our hope is to keep these programs moving forward” says Ackerman. Fluke has supported the Annual Campaign which funds the Y’s programs and Access for All. In addition, Fluke supported with the recent capital project – completion of a new YMCA branch in Everett replacing the 100+-year-old downtown Everett site.

Fluke and the YMCA share a vision to continue to support local communities and advance social responsibility, youth development, and healthy living. The partnership between them will stay strong in years to come.
