Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is a great improvement for electrical safety We had an arc flash incident involving crossed meter probe tips, so I believe these type of probes are an important tool. With these leads in the covered position, that (fortunately non-injury... PPE worked perfectly) incident would not have occurred. I would suggest a modified design that makes it possible to store these probes in the T5 Tester (that is the meter most of our electricians carry with them to every call). The shape of these probes does not store readily in the T5 probe grooves. Also, not obvious from the product specifications, these meters drop to CAT II when the probe is fully exposed. There is a window that exposes the correct CAT rating based on the configuration of the probe. An ideal design would fit readily with the T5 Tester, and maintain CAT III in either configuration. If even the first issue can be resolved, we would make this standard issue for all of our electricians. BUT... this is still a good option where there is any potential for crossing probe tips.
