The 1630-2 FC clamp measures earth ground loop resistances for multi-grounded systems using the dual-clamp jaw. This test technique eliminates the dangerous and time-consuming activity of disconnecting parallel grounds, as well as the process of finding suitable locations for auxiliary test stakes. You can also perform ground tests in places that were previously difficult: inside buildings, on power pylons or anywhere you don't have access to soil to place auxiliary test stakes.

Can this be used to detect ground faults on running equipment?
No, the Fluke 1630-2 FC Earth Ground Clamp will not detect ground faults on running equipment.

Can this meter be used only to measure earth rods connections i.e. under ground earth system resistance without connection to the earthing system in the facility
No, the Fluke 1630-2 FC Earth Ground Clamp has to be used on a fully operating system with multiple ground connections. If you are looking to measure earth rod connections we suggest either Fluke 1623-2 GEO Earth Ground Resistance Meter or Fluke 1625-2 GEO Earth Ground Tester.

Does this come calibrated from the factory?
Fluke meters come calibrated from the factory, but the calibration is not certified to a traceable standard. It will meet the accuracy specifications in the manual, but for the meter to be certified to a traceable standard it will need to be sent to the Fluke Service Center.
