Product overview: Fluke 381 Remote Display True RMS AC/DC Clamp Meter with iFlex®
What once took two people, now takes one
Now one technician can do jobs that would otherwise require two people. Clamp the Fluke 381 around a conductor, remove the display and walk across the room to operate controls or remove protective equipment, all while watching real-time readings.
The iFlex® Flexible Current Probe (included) expands the measurement range to 2500 A AC while providing increased display flexibility. With a cord that runs 6 feet, you can finally measure those tight spaces, awkward sized conductors and disorganized wires.
Other key features
- Integrated low pass filter and state-of-the-art signal processing allows for use in noisy electrical environments while providing stable readings
- Proprietary inrush measurement technology to filter out noise and capture motor starting current exactly as the circuit protection sees it
- Ergonomic design fits in your hand and can be used while wearing protective equipment
- Radio transmitter automatically sets the correct measurement range so you do not need to change the switch positions while taking a measurement
- Three-year warranty
Safety Conformance: IEC/EN 61010-1:2001, 1000V CAT III, 600V CAT IV

Rated 5 out of 5 by Little Mikey from Better than having an apprentice! Way easier than yelling measurements at one another from across the room.
No need to tie up another guy to watch the meter while you make changes.
No need to walk back and forth to check your measurements.
The wireless screen has been invaluable on the work site and at home.
It's not just the convenience, but also the safety factor especially when working on suspect circuits. This is even more true in my industry working transmission protection equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jerry KJS from Great Meter. I have several Fluke meters. This new 381 meter is very safe to use especially around bus bars. I use this meter for all my electrical testing now. The remote function is a great feature. Overall a great meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rickinhamptonva from 381 works great 1 year later the 381 remote clamp is the way to go. I have been using it on and off for over
a year now with NO problems (I still am using original batteries) so I guess fluke
fixed the power problem from 2 years ago. Great meter !! for ac and dc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bill Glynn from Excellent tool for performing electrical panel PM This meter is a perfect fit for performing our annual electrical panel PMs. We are required to take readings on live circuits with our Arc Flash gear on. The removable remote readout screen is perfect for this work. It helps keep the recording tech out of the arc flash boundary and helps speed the recording of loads on the individual circuits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JRSJr from Great Product.... Great product designed with field staff and conditions taken into consideration. The combination of iFlex and Remote Display provides the ultimate combination of options for safety first and remote monitoring in difficult troubleshooting conditions. The training and application sheets available from Fluke provide added value that employers should utilize.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hi ranger from Takes the guess work out of parallels what used to require at a minimum a calculator can now be done in one tool. when measuring current on parallel conductors one had to multiply the reading of one conductor by the total number of conductors to get the accurate reading. with the flex probe one can encircle all the parallel conductors and obtain the reading without the possibility of making a mathematical error.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Scotty from I flex is a great feature Having the large flexible I flex CT has made troubleshooting large cable bundles so much easier. The remote has come in handy when I am in a position where I cant see the screen. However the battery life is horrible. You must keep extra batteries in the pouch with the meter. My other Flukes last a year on a battery. This meter I am lucky if I get two weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Juan from One of the best clamp meter's With this clamp meter use will be able to be in a safe area and still be able to see the display. This meter is what we use in the Solar field on Inverters, Solar panels, Combiner boxes and do love the remote display.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jbr76 from Fantastic clamp on meter! I bought this meter a couple of months ago because of it's abilities. It makes troubleshooting by one person easy with it's remote monitor panel and the loop. Without the loop function it's almost impossible to take amp readings on larger cables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hans from Great Meter Let me first say that I buy all my electrical meters from fluke. I wouldn't trust anybody else with my life. The product is very useful because it does both AC and DC measurements. It also comes with iFlex, which is huge in my line of work. It keeps me safe and don't forget the remote display, it saves you from having to get into any uncomfortable positions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jdm49 from Does Fluke have stock in Duracell? I've owned this meter for three years and with fresh batteries, it does a great job. The problem being, as you already know, this thing eats batteries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am always in the field begging to borrow batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mark from Fluke 381 I have been given one of these a while back, and yep, a really great meter...but the same flaw that a lot of others have already mentioned, VERY poor battery life.
I don't use this meter that often, but have to carry a spare pack of batteries with me just in case, cause as the others have said, new batteries are needed every few weeks :( :( :(
Wondering if Fluke can provide a fix , to improve an already awesome meter, and if so, how can we go about getting it rectified???
Thanks,
Mark.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Yung Lu from Great meter with one fatal flaw I read the review that was written 2 years about the battery issue. We have 4 of these meters and it seems that every time, we need to use these meters, the batteries was dead, even we removed 1 battery each for the display and the meter. I always like fluke products and I think that Fluke should do the recall for these meters to fix them right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jojo32 from Nice but I have a problem I've had the 381 among others an gotten a lot of use out of it. My problem isn't with the function but I pulled out of its case an it has a half moon black out spot on the display. Without calling cust service does anyone know if you can buy a new display only or would it have to be fixed and any ideas what caused this?

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ingineer from Great meter with one fatal flaw I've had my 381 for coming up on 2 years, and while it's a great meter with unique features, they really botched the engineering in one area; Battery Life. The two AAA batteries in the display unit seem to go dead within a few weeks regardless of use. This seems to always happen at inopportune times when you really need the meter and are out of spare batteries.
The "work around" is to pull the batteries when not in use. They'll last a year if you do this, but it's a pain, and I've already lost the battery cover when it blew away in the wind. Why Fluke couldn't provide a simple mechanical power switch even if they couldn't do better on power management is beyond comprehension.
I've owned a lot of Fluke products over the years, and I must say their attention to detail is lapsing in their newer products. I will likely consider a competitor's product next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hand from This product is a very important to you saftey. This meter with the removal display face makes my job more safe. I use this meter alot to take amp reading in switch gear. I can set the meter up have the display in my hand and close the motor bucket and return power. Whlie getting my reading outside the gear with it closed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Puddinhead from Great general meter This is a great all purpose meter, it has both AC and DC current plus the iFles makes it easy to measure large amperage multi-conductor switchgear. It comes with test least but it really needs the TL175 and TLK-225 to make it fully functional. This will handle most uses except inverter drive requiring a scope. I've used it for main industrial power, low voltage distribution (LED lighting), automotive, electrical troubleshooting and alarm install. It replaced 2 other meters and with the detachable display, one assistant.
