Product overview: Fluke 345 Power Quality Clamp Meter - Electronic Power Meter

AC and DC current and voltage measurement – ideal tool for troubleshooting and logging on power electronics

The Fluke 345 is more than an electric power meter. Combining the functions of a clamp meter, oscilloscope, data logger and digital power meter into one handy device, the Fluke 345 is ideal for working with variable frequency motor drives, high efficiency lighting and other loads using switching electronics.

The multi-faceted Fluke 345 is packed with features such as a bright, color display to analyze the harmonic spectrum, a low-pass filter to remove high frequency noise and a high EMC immunity design, making the Fluke 345 power analyzer ideal for troubleshooting power quality on switching loads. The internal memory of this electric power meter enables long-term power quality logging for analysis of trends or intermittent problems. Additionally, the Hall Effect clamp meter design makes measurement of dc current possible without the need to break the circuit.

Besides effectively performing basic tasks like measuring power and power factor, the Fluke 345 power meters offer the ease of use, portability and flexibility needed to resolve most power issues in commercial, industrial and residential settings.

  • Setup and troubleshoot variable frequency drives and UPS systems - Verify correct operation by measuring key power quality parameters
  • Harmonics measurements - Uncover harmonic issues that can damage or disrupt critical equipment
  • Inrush capture - Check start-up current where spurious resets or nuisance circuit breaker tripping occurs
  • Load studies - Verify electrical system capacity before adding loads

For three phase applications the 1735 and 43- Series II products will provide the same type of results.

Other useful features:

  • Delivers accuracy even in noisy environments with distorted waveforms present on electronic loads with low-pass filter
  • Logs any power quality parameter, including harmonics, for minutes or for over a month to help identify intermittent faults
  • Verifies batteries with direct measurement of DC ripple (%) for battery and DC systems
  • Analyzes and logs harmonics digitally or graphically
  • Captures and analyzes inrush current nuisance tripping due from 3 seconds to 300 seconds
  • Makes it easy to confirm power meter setup with large backlit color display of waveforms and trends
  • Downloads logged data via USB with PowerLog application software making it easy to view trends and screenshots, analyze, and create reports
  • Powers the instrument without using the battery when performing extended logging sessions
  • Provides built in three-phase power measurement capability for balanced loads
  • Allows you to view graphs and generate reports with included Power Log software

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but no practical It is a power meter with basical measurements and logging capabilities, but the jaws design makes it almost impossible to use in tight areas, like meter enclosures or switchgears. I will be more practical (and easy to see) if we could select the appropriate current probe like additional accesory for the workload like the discontinued Fluke 43B. The price is also too high and the energy values is more useful if they are measured like received and delivered. Net values is like the performance of electromechanical watthourmeters. And the electric utilities meters have separated energy counting registers. And this is not a genuine Fluke Product, is a LEM Analyst product with some advantages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, very robust Very robust construction. Bright display. No manual needed. Easy to operate. I used this meter to check inrush current, and we assemble industrial motor controls and the measuring instrument is a great help thanks to the triggerable monitoring. It has a simple basic oscilloscope in it, but it fits the purpose perfectly. And plenty of service is in your hands on the field. Very good product. I recomend this meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool for PQ checks and 3 phase metering I purchased this meter to check power quality at our facility and found it to be one of the most powerful tools I have ever purchased. Its scope function was a complete surprise and is useful in finding flat topping issues and can even be used to check encoders on the side. The power quality features are top notch with full bar style graph showing noise level by harmonic frequency making troubleshooting quick and easy. The 3 phase power feature is very easy to use a well and makes testing a breeze. The ability to capture and share screen shots, the very nice color display, large clamp opening and extremely intuitive menus make this one of the most valuable and easy tools ever.
