Reviews: Fluke LVD2 Non-Contact Voltage Tester

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I went out of my way today was late to work all to buy a new fluke non-contact tic tracer because mine broke the guy on the phone said they had the new one with the laser at rexel I drove all the way there they did not he convinced me to buy the lvd2 I purchased which was $50 plus no joke I want to pull it out of my pocket to use it in the top or the battery is pulled right off and now it won't stay on it just clicks off anytime you go to pick it up or even touch it also besides that horrible experience I noticed when I seen other reviews that the flash light stays on at all times why would you do that but anyways i'm very disappointed I wanted to buy the new t6 tester where you just don't need a plan that you just put the wires almost to it surrounded I should say and now i'm very hesitant especially after rexel would not even give me any of my money back I couldn't believe it literally was two hours later not even used crazy horrible experience and it's sad because fluke makes the best testers but now I got to find a new company or have this situated

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's fair The previous Fluke model was much better. Don't like the flashlight coming on. If I could open it I would disable the flashlight. Cost too much. Fluke can do better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many years of reliable service. I have had my LVD2 for many years. Its been misplaced and dropped a number of times but this simple, low cost device just keeps working. I see a few have made some complaints but I think this pocketable product is spot on. Lose it or break it? Not a big investment so if lost or broken, it is easily replaced at a low cost. Safe to use? Yes but if your working inside a high voltage piece of equipment, use your training to select the best tool for the job to maintain your safe distance. FLUKE could make a night stick sized version with a 20,000 volt shell including a full hand cover-boot with a luggable case. Or just use another instrument that is better suited for the given job. But for fast go-no go checks for a lot of equipment live power checks, this pocketable "tool" is great! I would like to get a replacement power switch-cap. My battery latch is now failing but not complaining given the years of use, dropping, etc. Using an ultra small drill bit, I pinned the cap with a tiny (eye glass hinge screw) phillips head machine. screw through the cap & case. Used mine in industrial systems, imagesetters, computer room electrical and communications equipment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have to rotate to see if you have voltage I had other fluke voltage testers and this LVD2 model is garbage, When you turn it on and place it near a wire, you may or may not know if there is power there because you have to rotate the unit to see if it lights up, The tip is square but only one side lights up near the handle. Very aggravating. The WHOLE thing SHOULD light up bright RED when there is power! Right now its a dinky LED inside that lights up. WHY is it so hard to make the WHOLE TIP light up at any angle? Right now its just a expensive flashlight! Come on FLUKE, I found this problem in 10 sec's - Don't make garbage light this!!!
