Fluke wins prestigious Business Week industrial design award
SureGrip accessories offer improved ergonomics and functionality
EVERETT, WA - Fluke Corporation, the world's leading supplier of test and measurement equipment, announced today that the Fluke SureGrip accessory line has won a Silver Award in the annual ISDA/Business Week magazine industrial design competition.

Introduced earlier this year, SureGrip accessories include an eight-item line of ergonomically designed test lead clips, hooks, and pincers for electronic test and measurement. The SureGrip product line establishes Fluke at the forefront of quality, functionality, and now ease-of-use combined with superior industrial-design aesthetics.

"The SureGrip accessories have been in development for several years and incorporate the latest innovation in ergonomics and materials," said George McCain, Fluke director of design. "We overcame several design challenges to make the clips easier to use, more efficient at their test point connection, and far better to look at. These touchstones are the hallmark of all of our Fluke designs."

The jaws of the SureGrip alligator clips utilize anthropomorphic teeth of varying angles and depths to ensure a secure grip on the primary contact surface. SureGrip accessories also exhibit curved forms, soft edges and Santoprene rubber overmolding over V-Zero polypropylene bodies for better grip and safety.

These features provide a more intuitive feel that simply works better than anything else on the market, according to Joseph Ferrante, the Fluke designer who led the design team. In addition, the accessories are flame resistant.

The new SureGrip accessory line development was driven largely by Fluke's desire to extend the practice of customer-driven design deeper into the product portfolio, according to Rosemary Baisch, Fluke accessories marketing manager.

"Functional and simple, yet highly adaptable, the Fluke SureGrip accessory line is the ideal standard for all test and measurement probes on the market," added Baisch. "The program was truly a team effort with lots of input from customers."

Business Week magazine publishes an annual review of the best industrial design products from around the world. Fluke has also been recognized by leading design forums and is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt museum.
