Fluke Corporation's Agy wins 2003 Woodington Award
Honor bestowed at annual Measurement Sciences Conference

EVERETT, WA.-David Agy of Fluke Corporation has been named the 2003 Woodington Award recipient by the Measurement Sciences Conference, the professional organization whose goal is to promote education and professionalism in measurement science and related disciplines.

The announcement was made at the organization's annual conference, held recently in Anaheim, California. Agy is the 23rd recipient of the award, named for the late Andrew J. Woodington, and presented to individuals whose professionalism and dedication contributes significantly to the measurement science community.

Agy was honored for his 35-year career in metrology and calibration, including early work with the Navy's Metrology Engineering Center. While there he was instrumental in the development and fielding of a highly accurate microwave power and attenuator calibrator for support of the Standard Missile test system. He joined Fluke in 1977 as a Product Planner. Early in his Fluke career he was instrumental in working on the definition and development of a number of products including the 5100, 5400 and 5500 Series Calibrators, the 5220 Transconductance Amplifier, and the 5700A High-Accuracy Meter Calibrator. In addition he was a principal contributor to the 732 and 734 Zener dc Volt Reference Standards. He has also served as the interpreter and facilitator between customer needs, marketing and engineering design. In 1994, he co-authored the text "Calibration Philosophy in Practice." More recently he serves as the principal troubleshooter and problem solver, providing technical support to internal managers and engineers as well as to customers.

Agy is President-Elect of the National Conference of Standards Laboratories International (NCSLI). He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Colorado in electronic engineering. He is the third individual from Fluke to win the Woodington Award, joining Xumi Li (Hart Scientific) who won last year, and Les Huntley, who was honored in 1994.
