Get more value from your advanced Fluke multimeter using the powerful functions already built in
Fluke application note provides a guide to under-utilized functions

EVERETT, Wash. – Fluke Corporation, the global leader in portable electronic test and measurement technology, has published a valuable series of application notes to help electricians and electronics professionals do advanced testing with their Fluke digital multimeters (DMMs).

Advanced DMMs such as the Fluke 289 Industrial Trending Digital Multimeter and Fluke 287 Electronics Multimeter incorporate a multitude of sophisticated test and measurement functions. But some users may be unsure of when or how to perform certain tests. Fluke Application Notes, available through the Fluke Website, are written and illustrated to take the mystery out of such test procedures and help Fluke users solve problems and get the most from their Fluke test tools.

One under-utilized DMM function is Fast Min/Max or Peak Min/Max recording, available on the Fluke 287-289 and 187-189 DMMs. When set up to monitor a signal or system, these Fluke DMMs can capture intermittent or transient events as short as 250 μs and record the time and duration of the event.

With this measurement, users can gain critical insight into the stability of the signal or the system they are evaluating and know exactly when unusual events have taken place. This can be a real asset and time saver as a troubleshooting tool for detecting intermittent or transient events without having to be present.
