Job Requirements for College Interns and Recent Graduates

Fluke manufactures and markets products for a broad range of customers. To design products and services that meet these needs, Fluke requires a highly skilled team of individuals. It solicits professional engineers, marketing and accounting professionals and a full range of production-oriented individuals. The following descriptions will give you an idea of the types of skills Fluke needs.

BS/MS Engineering Candidate/Graduate

Each Fluke design engineer has his or her own workstation equipped with the latest CAD/CAM software and integrated circuit development tools. Engineers are networked to other team members and encouraged to share information.

Design Engineers:

Design engineers play a particularly important role in the company's future, because most of Fluke's products and components are designed in-house. As a Fluke design engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop products that incorporate a wide variety of technologies. This will broaden your experience.
  • You must be able to work in a team environment.
  • You need skills associated with schematic design and entry and test procedure generation.
  • You should be familiar with state-of-the-art digital electronics concepts associated with microprocessor design.
  • You must have the ability to effectively operate computer-aided simulations for both analog and digital electronics.
  • If you have experience with embedded microprocessor design that is an advantage.

Requirements:

  • You must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • You must be familiar with RAM, ROM, PAL and ASIC.

Software Engineers:

Each software engineer has his or her own workstation equipped with the latest design tools.

Fluke continues to develop new technologies that make our products easier and faster to use. This requires an increasing need for both embedded and application software. Fluke values and recognizes software design professionals who are innovative and committed to new technology development. Design projects for software engineers include real-time control of measurement hardware, graphical displays for instruments, PC user interfaces and communication.

  • You will help develop product requirement specifications by working on a design team.
  • You will need good interpersonal skills, because you will be a core member of a multi-disciplined product development team.
  • You will be expected to take an active role in defining, designing and implementing products.

Requirements:

  • You must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • You must be highly proficient in C/C++ programming.

Mechanical Engineers:

Mechanical engineers assure that new products meet customer needs, and at the same time meet performance, scheduling and cost objectives. Fluke's engineering environment is open and hands-on. You will find the technical support you need to do your best work. Many of the parts used in our products are designed on our own CAD tools.
  • You will be required to perform engineering packaging design and layout using computer-aided design tools.
  • You will research new concepts and explore new material options that will allow Fluke to continue to produce the look and feel of test-and-measurement equipment that is surpassed by no other in the industry.
  • You will need knowledge of plastic design and injection-tool fabrication.
  • Knowledge of die-stand and die-cast part design is an advantage.

Requirements:

  • You must be pursuing bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • You must be familiar with various computer-aided design tools.

MBA Candidate/Graduate


Technical Marketing:

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Fluke marketing professionals help define and identify customer needs that create profitable opportunities. They then help implement the plans to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • As part of the marketing team, you will work closely with customers to assess and analyze their needs.
  • You will work with design engineering, manufacturing, operations, sales, service and finance to translate those needs into products that provide the best value for the customer and a profit for Fluke.
  • As a marketing specialist, you will execute marketing programs for specific customer segments. This includes sales channel development programs, supporting customer user groups, customer research and market segmentation and the development of marketing communication programs (including press relations, literature, advertising, trade shows and presentations.)
  • If you have experience with computers and networks that is an advantage.

Requirements:

  • You must be pursuing masters degree in business administration
  • You must have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, business administration or marketing.
  • You must have a minimum of 1 to 3 years experience in a marketing environment.
  • You must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

BA/BS Business Candidate/Graduate


Accountant:

Fluke offers a wide range of opportunities for accounting professionals.
  • You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams such as marketing, engineering and operations. With these teams, you will apply your accounting skills to cost, financial and international accounting as well as financial administration, credit administration, internal auditing and cash management.
  • You may tackle challenging issues such as activity-based costing, asset utilization, taxation, financial analysis, budgeting and international business.
  • Once you have developed your experience as an accounting professional, you can also move to other areas within the company.
  • To be successful within Fluke's Accounting department, successful candidates are inquisitive, enthusiastic and persistent.
  • You should be a results-oriented problem solver who focuses on eliminating the causes of errors.

Requirements:

  • You must be a pursuing bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • You must be familiar with GAAP.
  • You need excellent written and oral communication skills.

Materials Professional:

Fluke offers a wide range of opportunities for individuals in the operation's management profession.
  • You will work with other individuals in operations.
  • You will be assigned projects related to inventory cost analysis.
  • You will research projects to optimize inventory levels by addressing costs and risks beyond current standard costs.
  • You will apply current operations theory to current systems that will enable Fluke to keep on the forefront of operations and materials management.

Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a bachelors degree in business administration.
  • Must possess strong analytical, communication, and PC skills.

Purchasing:

Fluke offers a wide variety of opportunities for individuals in the purchasing profession.
  • You will place purchase orders for assigned parts, materials, and services under contract or as directed.
  • You will follow-up and expedite process to ensure timely delivery of material.
  • You will negotiate to meet delivery/pricing needs.
  • You will work closely with supplier and buyer to resolve any discrepancies to a win/win solution.

Requirements:

  • You must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration.
  • You must have excellent verbal communications skills.
  • You must have the ability to negotiate.
  • You must have experience using Word and Excel.
  • If you have working knowledge of purchasing or materials organization that is helpful.
