Common Uses

Fluke's power quality instruments provide insight into your power quality system and allow you to pinpoint problems quickly and easily. Critical measurements for increasing productivity include voltage unbalance, harmonic distortion, increasing phase current, voltage sags, peak demand, and power factor. Detecting these problems early can help you to extend the lives of equipment such as 3-phase motors and transformers and reduce related downtime.

Application- Harmonic Distortion

Harmonic Distortion is one of many predictive maintenance applications of power quality. Harmonic distortion is a normal consequence of a power system supplying electronic loads such as computers, variable frequency drives, electronic lighting ballasts, and control systems. Harmonic distortion can cause high neutral current, damaging heat in motors and transformers and reduced efficiency.
