Solve the difficult problems

Working on VSDs/VFDs: Take accurate voltage, current and frequency measurements on the output side of the drive at either the drive itself or at the motor terminals.

Industrial troubleshooting: Get the resolution and accuracy you need to solve more problems on motor drives, in-plant automation, power distribution, and electromechanical equipment.

Checking power quality: Capture glitches and spikes as short as 250 μs. Identify irregular signals.

Advanced measurement functions

  • True-rms ac measurements
  • 0.05% dc accuracy
  • 6,000 counts, 3-3/4 digit resolution, or 20,000 counts, 4-1/2 digit—resolution
  • 10 A ac or dc (with test leads and current jacks) with 0.1 μA resolution
  • Temperature measurements up to 1090 °C with included thermocouple probe
  • Provides 10,000 µF capacitance range for components and motor caps
  • Provides peak capture and Min/Max/Avg recording to capture intermittent as short as 250 µS
  • Easy access door for fast battery changes without breaking the calibration seal
  • Fits into an optional magnetic hanger for easy set-up and viewing while freeing your hands for other tasks
  • Presents a large digit display with bright, two-level backlight for easier reading in low light
  • Includes an analog bar graph for fast changing or unstable signals
  • Auto and manual ranging for maximum flexibility
  • Relative mode to calculate and display difference between two readings
  • Holds readings on display for safe viewing after removing probes using Touch Hold technology

Electrical Safety

All inputs are protected to CAT IV 600 V, CAT III 1000 V. They can withstand impulses in excess of 8.000 V and reduce risks related to surges and spikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic meter and features, great value I am a field service representative and have recently transitioned into program management. I believe this is the most versatile meter on the market today. I specifically like the accuracy and its ability to display peak recording of volts/amps fluctuations. This feature is a tremendous aid in troubleshooting sensitive aircraft systems. I recommend the 87V/E2 kit to all of my field reps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be lost without it! fluke 87 meters are reliable and accurate I've used other brand meters in the past and would always get false readings with hertz, and ohms. I purchased my first fluke 87 about 12 yrs. ago and it is still as acurate as the newest one I got about 2 yrs. ago. The options that are available really help you when your in some deep troubleshooting on generators, control panels, switchgears, and electrcal systems on engines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Meter I purchased the 87-V/E2 kit about 4 months ago and I couldn't have made a better investment. This is my first "grown-up" meter and I hope that it will help me out on projects for many years to come. The 87-V itself is a very solid meter; the quality of the materials is top-notch. With the kit, you get a nifty case, a magnet strap, and some extra probes, which are a nice addition for the price. The aligator probes are especially nice for hard-to-hold pieces. The probes have interchangeable ends, which is a plus becuase you can carry it all in the case without wrapping up a bunch of leads. It has just about every feature you would need for basic industrial stuff (which is what I do) and for stuff around the house. There's a few hidden features as well that you may find handy. The only downside to this kit is the regular probes. They are only 4mm long, so if you need to get into something deeper, you'll have to get another set of probes. Overall this kit is a very nice additional to your arsenal, whether seasoned or novice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Meter Around I bought my first 87 in 1984 and my 2nd one in 1986 and still use both today. What else can I say?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great replacement for my 15yr old Fluke 87 When my 15yr old 87 was stolen around a year ago, there was no question what I would replace it with. The 87V. From home electronics to industrial plant floor and control room, there's not much this meter won't check. I especially like the peak recording for finding surges in volts/amps and the thermocouple for verifing readings of installed equipment. Buy one (and keep track of it) and it may well be the last DVM you ever buy!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Meter for the money This is the last meter you will buy! So many features packed into one kit . I am the service manager for our company and this meter gets me out of most spots From simple voltage to Frequency drives and Duty cycle it has it all , Frequency and current can be measured with the Clamp attachment ( AND ITS Within .5%) It replaced 5 different meters . Do not hesitate to buy. Plus the added leads make multiple base measurements a snap!
